Sustainable economical development of marine resources is vital for the future of the Atlantic Area.  The project Atlantic Salmon Arc Project (ASAP) in conjunction with the INTERREG IIIB Atlantic Area Secretariat, is organising a seminar on this topic which will include information on, and planning for, projects to be considered under the Programme INTERREG IIIB 2007-2013.

The invitation for this important event is detailed below and subscriptions must be forwarded direct to the project ASAP contact robbie@wrt.org.uk  or  Robbie Russell 0044 8707 740 704 within the next two weeks.  Please do not reply to the Secretariat.

This event aims to explore work currently being undertaken regarding Freshwater, Coastal and Marine Resource Management within the Atlantic and to identify common issues  with a view to developing projects that will deliver sustainable solutions compatible with EU strategic objectives of the 2007-2013 INTERREG IIIB Programme for the Atlantic Area.

The event will focus on:

·        Current approaches to the conservation and management of the aquatic environment, fish stocks, fish farming and associated tourism
·        The potential for these activities to have a sustained economic benefit in the region through a direct increase in revenue and the possibility of increased indirect revenue through improvements in the quality of environmental services within the region.

There will be a series of presentations covering existing and recent INTERREG IIIB Atlantic Area projects followed by discussion during which delegates will be invited to identify common issues which could form the basis of projects for the 2007-2013 AtlanticArea Interregional Cooperation Fund.
