Help from anglers to contribute scale samples for improving sea trout management.

An important part of the AARC project is work to define the population structure of wild brown trout and sea trout and their habitats and movements. We are collecting samples from trout and sea trout in both fresh and saltwater to establish how many populations there are, and their movements. With this data we can examine samples from sea trout caught by anglers and assign them to their population of origin, thus establishing an extended map of the migratory movements and habits of sea trout populations. This will unravel many long-standing mysteries and greatly improve husbandry and management. We are keen to enlist the help of anglers to collect scales for this project.

If you would like to help us, please contact Bruce Stockley at the Westcountry Rivers Trust. bruce(at)wrt.org.uk, Tel: 01579 372 146
