Over the past 13 years the Trust has been
very successful in acquiring a reputation for being
passionate, committed and able to deliver. None
of this is possible without the ongoing and largely
unsung support of our donors who continue to provide
funds which we can use to gear up large European
grants and really achieve change both on the ground
and also through the whole spectrum of policy.
Although our members have access to a suite of discounts on Trust events and are invited to various activities that we run throughout the year, including river walks, science lectures, exhibitions, and demonstrations they benefit through the knowledge that they have been instrumental in the running of the Trust and have helped us carry out vital work within the regions rivers.
Membership to the Trust is only £24 per year or £2 per month
and in addition, the Trust will reclaim tax by utilising
Gift Aid. These memberships may seem relatively small but 500 members is enough to support a rivers officer who can be dedicated to accessing further funds for specific river enhancement schemes, community volunteer projects and raising awareness on the pressures and impacts on our rivers. This mechanism is already up and working in the upper Exe through our river Exe officer who has already accessed funding for direct river enhancement and restoration to protect and enhance not only the fisheries potential but also the wider river environment. A healthy river means healthy wildlife and subsequently healthy fish populations.
If you share
our passion about water and rivers and you want
to support our work to secure sustainable practices
and economic and ecological benefit throughout the
Westcountry, and indeed the world, think about becoming
a member. You would do so in the knowledge that
your contribution will be spent only on projects
that are strategically important to conservation,
and you can be sure that administration and overheads
are kept at an absolute minimum. We guarantee that
every penny from our donors is spent preserving
and protecting our environment.
If you would like to be part of the Westcountry Rivers Trust you can join by bankers order or by cheque. Simply download the membership application and bankers order forms below and fill them out. You can then print
it off, sign it and return it to us here at WRT
headquarters.
Thank you for
your interest in this work. We hope that you decide
to support these essential conservation projects,
and we look forward to meeting you at one of our
events in the next few months.
