In the past
the Trust has employed an Education Officer responsible
for running primary school river trips and Public
River walks, however that position has since come
to an end. Although it is hoped that another Education
Officer, in charge of primary and secondary school
visits and trips, will be available under new Trust
projects, school visits are limited and rely on
staff spare time.
All educational
activities run by the Trust tie in with national
Schemes of Work, especially within Science (KS1
and 2: units 2B,
4B,
5B
and 6B)
and Geography (KS1 and 2: units 6,
8,
11
and 14),
as well as with non-statutory PSHE
guidelines.
The
Trust has developed a CD-ROM, to be sent to schools
around the region that details not only the river
but the whole catchment, as well as learning activities
and games to be played either in the classroom or
in the field. Further details and ordering information
can be found on the Cornwall
Rivers Project website.

The CD-ROM is also
now available to view online at the CRP website
to view this resource (the provision for the educational
CD online was funded by the Ernest
Cook Trust).
There is also
a Continued Professional Development (CPD)
course in Running
Primary School River Sessions available that
discusses riverside activities that can be played,
how they fit in with the schemes of work and how
to complete the risk assessments necessary.
The Trust has
also developed other resources, such as a rivers
education pack, which is now available to view online
or download here |
