  • River corridor geomorphology and habitat surveys using standard methodologies as well using theodolite, remote sensing, GPS and mapping using GIS and Arcview.
  • Surveying for freshwater invertebrates as an assessment of water quality using diversity indices, such as Shannon Wiener and Simpsons, and biotic indices, such as BMWP, LIFE and AWIC.
  • Surveying aquatic macrophytes populations for habitat management plans.
  • Chemical water quality analysis using field and laboratory techniques.
  • Surveying and control of invasive weeds including Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed.
  • Riparian management for general habitat improvement including erosion controls, coppicing and invasive weeds.
  • Surveying for riparian mammal populations using, direct counts, trapping and radio tracking as well as subsequent modeling of population dynamics.
  • Lecturing on the Sustainable River Basin Management degree course on monitoring and managing the riparian ecosystem
  • Licensed amphibian surveys for Great Crested Newts including monitoring and mitigation works.
